What do I love

Ι love everything that can make me smile, genuinely smile.
Regardless of whether it comes from people around me
or from the environment, or both at best. Simplicity and
elegance, authenticity, loveliness and generosity, those are
the axes which rotate our lives and allow us to live joyfully
and fully. This is my theory. Nature is an inexhaustible well
of awesomeness. A bucket, a garden trolley and two red
rose bushes, stimulate my hidden energy and help me to
assemble my disparate ideas. The outcome of my creative
impulse can jolt me out of complacency and carry me away,
even if I constantly censure myself for being too childish
by and large. But I love sharing my inspiration with you,
 begging for kindness and clemency!

Friends of course.
Friends are the flowers in the garden of life!
It’s a quote I keep in my yard. Humans are the soul of
everything and we are happier when surrounded by people
we like and love. An aperitif and a makeshift brunch in the
country backyard- alas unlovely at the moment as the area
is still unmanaged- can bring cheerfulness and colour
on a ponderous Sunday morning.
A hammock, some tapas, laughter, that’s all!

Simple ingredients make our days flavorful.
Be beautiful and generous, think positive thoughts!
Summer is on the way, another beautiful season is ahead,
so, let’s hope for the best!

A big thank you to everyone who has left kind wishes for
our wedding anniversary. They are all appreciated so much.
I’m not always a good blog friend but as follower numbers
increase it becomes a little duller.
I assure you that you are all so precious to me!

Carpe diem, seize the day!

Last Tuesday, a workday, pressing deadlines for both
of us, especially for me as the end of the school year
approaches, hard work mixed with bittersweet feelings as
always…Anyway, it could have been a hectic day, when
it’s impossible to pack variety or freshness into daily life
and when the only thing you want is to wrap things up and
just get a good sleep! But I resisted the boredom,
beat the monster of habit and found an issue…
Yes, time for a little surprise, a good one,
I’ve so missed this intriguing feeling which is so cool!
My target? An astonished man, my man, he who
makes my life so special and beautiful.
Nothing exceptional, just a mini buffet with his favorite
food, sweets, a little cold champagne…in the middle of a
chaotic day, not so bad after all… And here I am,
running to cook and set the stage! So, I share with you
the atmosphere of this impromptu lunch, fully appreciated
by my guest who  also had a similar idea in mind and
was in time to offer me this gorgeous white Phalaenopsis
orchid and who so pleasantly surprised me too.

White orchids…My wedding bouquet was made with those
flowers, May the 6th, our twelfth wedding anniversary…
it would be such a pity to lose or postpone this date, don’t
you think? Well, simple pleasures shouldn’t be overlooked,
life is full of magic moments...
Wish you happiness and well-being!

Welcome May!

Nature is putting on its best show and
warmer weather is coming although in some parts of the
country moisture and southern winds refuse to give up.
Spring days are usually fickle and unsettled and can be
unseasonably cold, rainy, stormy or hot and sunny.
This year, May has arrived exactly this way. But...

But,on May first, soaking up the sun, enjoying
the sweet wind blowing wearing lighter clothing
and capturing spring’s awesomeness
were fortunately quite possible for us.

The name of the month is in honor of the Goddess Maia,
a beautiful Greek nymph, mother of Hermes and one
of the wives of Zeus who was lately associated
with the Goddess of Spring by the Romans.

To welcome the most glorious month of spring,
we usually pay homage to the outburst
of nature’s beauty. May Day is a bank holiday
which allows us to feel free in the open air.
We gather flowers and decorate everything!
The prettiest flowers are carefully braided
into wreaths which hang on the doorways or
balconies and remain in place until 24th
(feast of St.John) when they are tossed
and burned in great bonfires.
Rural people also decorate their May wreath
with garlic for protection against the evil eye!

I couldn't break with traditions, so I made
my own wreath using the blooming flowers of
our country garden but the balcony where
it stands is shady almost all day so the
photos aren't so good.( 7th and last)

Hope you are enjoying life's pleasures
and avoiding everything negative
evil or harmful.
Thank you so much for every little jot
you leave in my blog space.
