Summertime is running out and we fιnd ourselves alone
at
home as our daughter accepted the kind invitation
of her aunt to stay at her country house
for a few days.
A short escape to Spetses
incognito! What a great idea!
If you don’t know this island, it’s
included in the islands
of
the Saronic Gulf . From where we live, we need
only an hour
to
reach the coast where we leave the car
as
vehicles aren’t allowed on the island.
Through
the pebble path that leads to our hotel
Beautiful entrances of the old whitewashed houses
We have visited this wonderful historical island so many times
but since
we have discovered its accommodation, the destination
comes second! It happens
sometimes that you choose a place
for its hotels?…This is our case. “Zoe’s club”
An amazing retreat
where everybody and everything is there
to help you relax you and make you feel
comfortable.
What else could you ask for?
Luxury sleep comfort on the Duxiana mattresses.
The
pool area is really so inviting
Hi sweetheart!
The scent of sweet basil everywhere
A delicious, top quality breakfast.
Our little private terrace
The magical view from the hotel
The first impressive building every visitor distinguishes
during the 10
minutes boat trip to Spetses, is Poseidonion,
a five star hotel with a rich
history, recently renovated.
The coffee and reading corner of the hotel Poseidonion
where we liked to
spent the warm hours after lunch.
From the balcony of the Poseidonion hotel...
You can see the statue of Laskarina Bouboulina, a”pirate
queen” ,
a Greek heroine who lived there. Through
her organisation skills
and financial support, the island was able to hold back
the Turks during the war of Independence
started in 1821.
The old mansion of the Greek benefactor of Spetses,
Sotirios Anargyrou
I hope that you’ve got a little fresh air from this wonderful island,
that
you are still enjoying late summer….
Let’s hope that this fall will be better than others,
that everyone can
maintain hope and strength in the heart.
Until next post!

It is obvious to see why you love escaping to this little bit of paradise - Zoe's Club looks the perfect spot. I love the way they have the different terracotta bowls of basil around the pool which look attractive but also fill the air with their scent.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good break.
Que belleza!!!!! son unas fotos realmente preciosas, espero que hayas descansado y disfrutado mucho de las vacaciones.

Do you know that your King Willem Alexander has bought a holiday home very close to Spetses? Τhe villagers meet him and his family very often during their summer holidays. They told me he is very simple and nice.
DeleteI am sure you show us a wonderful place, it will be great to stay there, enjoying the sun and a wonderful environment.
ReplyDeleteWish you a great Sunday!! Sending hugs from Holland

αυτές τις μαγευτικές εικόνες !Καλό φθινόπωρο !
We visited Spetses three years ago in the fall. . .so charming it was, despite a torrential rainfall that kept us indoors for a portion of our stay and turned streets into lakes. When it dried and the sun returned we explored on foot its many nooks and crannies. We loved the island and have read "The Magus" which adds such a mysterious atmosphere to the place. Nice to have you back in the blogosphere! xo Jackie

Hello, Olympia
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you enjoyed a beautiful get-away. I like the blue door and the doorknocker on the gate. The latter reminds me of many similar ones I saw in Spain and Morocco. My friend slipped away in the medina and bought one for me, almost black with age, because I had admired them so much. He`s passed away now, but it hangs in my home.
Have a lovely week.

Oh, it looks so beautiful. In my early twenties I used to visit Greece and the islands once or twice every year, but now it is such a long time since I visited. I MUST visit again. We are thinking of getting away somewhere in October - is it still warm in Greece then?
ReplyDeleteM x
Generally yes and if you are lucky, you could also go swimming Marina!
gros bisous

Olá! Fantástico! Belíssimas fotos!
ReplyDeleteThe Greek islands, every single one of them, are magnificently mythological in their beauty, vibrancy and history. Your photographs are further proof of these qualities and my heart beats a little faster with each glorious image of a land so rich in light, water and earth.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous weekend, Olympia!
