Easter is fast approaching and there are a lot of
things
to do as usual. We are actually looking after the garden,
pruning the citrus trees,
seeding some herbs and cleaning
the whole area from withered plants and wilted
flowers.
The violets are still in full bloom and the first roses have
appeared.
We have finally finished painting the country house,
to be exact, a part of it. We
choose shades of duck egg blue
and rose of Benjamin Moore Paints for the living
room and
the kitchen. I tried to uplift this lovely country house by using
materials that I already had and exploring my imagination...
A colourful lamb, creation of my own!
This is the color of the chimney!

A spring wreath for the front door.
Chicks for sale, in a paper box, in the street…
1euro each one!
On Holy Saturday, at midnight, we go to the church to
follow the
ceremony of lighting candles. Children
hold the candles offered to them
by their godfather.
Here is one of these lovely candles.
This year, we are not celebrating very glamorously
as we lost a member of our family a few months ago.
Hope your Easter is lovely and serene.
Hope the renewal of life is the
renewal of
love, joy and happiness.
Thanks to all my followers, both known and unknown
Love

ReplyDeleteDear Olympia,
ReplyDeleteEach pictures is so carefully and beautifully composed. You have an eye for colour and composition which is quite lovely! Truly I am touched by the choice of colours you have picked for your home walls and there are flowers everywhere: in paintings, embroideries, or simply a few handpicked blooms brought in from outside.
My first Easter in Athens was memorable; so much more powerful in sentiment than in England or France. The lead-up, with the fire crackers going off in almost silent streets added to the intensity of the candle ceremony in one of the oldest churches in Athens. I recall being stressed and thrilled about holding the candle all the way to my boyfriend's family's home after the ceremony. Such an honour.
I wish you and all your family a peaceful, beautiful Easter.
Stephanie

Dear Olympia,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful Easter post this is. I really like the colors you chose for the country home. You know, I've always went with whites and creams for the walls, but I think when we move into our final home, I will go with different colors such as these. I love the duck egg blue. Your house looks so charming, with all the bunnies around and your colorful lamb. The purple candle is so lovely, and what a nice thought of the children holding the candles at church.
The girls were just here recently, so they won't be here for Easter. It will be a quiet day with my husband and son. Happy Easter, my dear friend. I hope your day is filled with so much love.

Beautiful colors in this post! Your photos are so vibrant! I'm envious of your lemon tree, as well. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteLieve Olympia,
Liefs,Ger
