Posies, teapots and a scarf

Teapot
isn’t exactly the right term for me as I’m a coffee addict
and those pots are mostly used to serve filter coffee.
However, it doesn’t exclude serving tea, Earl Grey is my
favorite, Fortnum & Mason tea blends are also super.
The Hungarian bargain
comes from my last flea market hunting.
It stood congested, under-appreciated, suffocating in a dark
corner of a dusty self. So, pitying this lovely piece of porcelain…
quickly decided to change
its fate, for 7 €!

Chrysanthemums, a few roses, daisies and bougainvillea
blooms enliven vases and home spaces while we go through
some dull, boring days.
Fortunately, some shops have already brought Christmas cheer to
our little town whose lights haven’t yet been switched on.

I finished the scarf you see, having transgressed all rules
of crochet, combined all kinds of yarns and allowing myself
a freestyle improvisation…I’m glad with the result
whereas the perfection of the achievement wasn’t a crucial
issue in my crocheting thoughts! You guessed, no pattern
except the enthusiasm of the moment.
I wonder if the person to whom I intend to offer it,
will experience the same joy as me.

I’m thinking that despite everything, we should never lose hope.
A light in our heart, not on the Christmas tree,
this is our power and strength.

Thank you for being here, thank you for the time you take
to leave a sweet word or just a simple hello.
You make me happy!
Wish you a wonderful Sunday!

Dimming the light

Afternoons are now ending prematurely in darkness.
An array of pictures have been taken indoors with a low light
and the warmth of candle light. The flickers of light smooth the
mind and soul…Winter afternoons, classical music for my
nervous system while cuddling up on a couch and things
 are taken more lightly...

Too early I know, but I’m getting in the Christmas mood…
Memories jump into my head at random...
I remember my father bringing home the Christmas tree by car,
its tail was hanging off the luggage rack and after having
put it up in the living room, he plugged in the lights, leaving
the rest for me…I was already 22, 23 years old!
I also remember that he brought me this beautiful, red, Scottish
tartan plaid from a trip to England.(first photo) It was the last trip
together for mum and dad… Tartan plaids are timeless, creating
snuggly atmosphere, what would be cozier?
I love them so much!

Both homes are getting ready for winter.
Carpets everywhere, warm dark colors and woolen blankets.
Two tons of olive firewood to light the hearths and of
course a lot of work for both of us.

I saw two good movies lately.
"Grace of Monaco” with Nicole Kidman and
"The Judge” with Robert Downey Jr and the beloved
Robert Duvall.

Thank you for visiting me, I love you, all!!!

The adventures of a shawl

Our orange and lemon trees are now giving us their first
fruit and a few late flowering bougainvilleas kick off
 early November days nicely...

Τhe opportunity to make the first crash test with my new
Nikon was given to me on a grey, rainy day. The drizzle was
slowly falling as I was trying to discover new poses for the
shawl I made recently. It was such fun despite the bad
conditions. A little adventure, just to try the possibilities
of the camera’s menu, that’s why there is no homogeneity
from pic to pic. Some of them are quite satisfying for a
beginner like me, some others don’t please me enough
but things will surely improve when I will repeat my task
with a better light. I want to brush up on my shooting
skills and get to grips with my new camera. There are
of course a lot of things to learn but for the moment
the quality of the photos cater perfectly for my needs.

The shawl is the twin of what was presented on a Dutch
blog t-jonge a year ago. No pattern to follow apart
from a range of detailed photos. Afterwards, I easily created
this colorful poncho which I will keep in our second home.

I wish you days that are bright,
joy that lasts for ever!
