Up the hill

For a short escape from the town, my husband and I visited 
the Acrocorinthos hill, surrounding the ruins of Ancient Corinth. 
The site is reachable by following a track past the entrance 
of the ancient city. The old road brings you gradually uphill; 
it’s about an hour-long uphill walk. 

I can tell you that it worth every effort especially on a warm and 
balmy day like this. Unfortunately, we chose the car as I'm not so 
athletic nowadays and didn't have so much time to spend. However,
 we enjoyed a wonderful uphill stroll in the huge area crowned by the 
extensive castle ruins and complex fortifications. The views are 
astounding and very impressive as you can look over the whole
bay of Corinth and the Aegean stretching out beyond.

I was there not so much for the view but for the explosion of

 wildflowers that make my heart beat harder. Countless colored, 

tender flowers whose names escape me, swayed in the spring breeze.
 I always feel at fever pitch when I have to eternize their ethereal 
existence and catch the moment of their short lives

through my lens. 

How exciting is my new challenge, how impatiently I go home to 
download my stuff and observe the results!
Just an amateur, learning the craft...

Grilling on the rooftop

Easter has just passed here in Greece, with red eggs, 

spit-roasted lamb, sweetbreads and all related, 

classically and traditionally as every year. 

The Holy week is always a super busy time and notwithstanding 

the fact that the Easter festive lunch was the responsibility 

of my brother, there were a lot of things to do or 

to check out that kept me away from my laptop and 

your blogs. Hope you don’t mind.

So, we experienced a different sensation this time, 

roasting a whole lamp on the rooftop of my brother’s home. 

An urban “adventure” indeed! Cooking a whole lamb isn't 

the sort of thing you just decide to do one morning. 

And on the rooftop!

Who could possibly imagine that a neurologist would also 

showcase excellent surgeon skills? I can assure you that 

it takes a good deal of planning and preparation. 

My brother sewed the lamb with thoroughness and 

did all this laborious job alone, 

despite being a beginner! We enjoyed a hassle-free lunch 

on their roof terrace, feeling good with the sea-breeze 

and the warming April sunshine. 

Not forgetting the amazingly well organised reception 

by my brother’s wife, who knows how to focus 

on experiences of togetherness. 

Coffee was served inside as we were all begging for a 
comfortable sofa after a heavy but extra delicious lunch. 

I thank God for the incredibly blessed life I live 
and for those who surround me with their love.

A colorful run-up to Easter

A German woman had once decorated those Easter eggs for me. 

She had removed the inside of the egg and used natural colors 

and special tools meticulously. It’s a pity that every time I open 

the packs I find some of them broken.

.

So, the position of the constellation was quite different this year 

and has set an early Easter celebration. I felt a little perplexed 

when I realized that only a few days remained ahead. 

Ogling soft pastel shades and feeling creative,

I tried to make simple items seem special. The bet was to get 

things done faster and boost our mood, 

injured by the longest-running rainfall ever.

Here in Greece, Easter is the most celebrated feast, even more 
than Christmas. Each place has its characteristic customs and 
traditions but what is really worthwhile is visiting the islands;
over there, the Easter experience is beyond all expectations. 
I haven't live it either!
However, there are  also a lot of things to do on the  mainland 
in order to participate in the religious events and keep 
the mystery alive. I'll do my best!

My daughter's English teacher gave her an easy recipe 

of muffins that she tried out straightaway! At her first attempt,

 she did it all wrong but with a little encouragement she rectified 

it all alone! Not so bad! I think bringing kids into the kitchen 
can be beneficial in different ways.

Our coastline and its shingle beaches offer a beautiful range 

of wildflowers at the moment. Here is the yellow version!
