A head start on spring

Spring is heading our way, super! Τhe fact is that she is coming
lightning fast so that I find myself racing behind her. Again!
Such a stressful feeling, isn’t?
It was snowing and raining pitchforks a week ago!
And one morning you just get up with birds singing merrily,
with sun’s cheer gleaming and with beautiful flowers blooming...
I get the message, no time to waste. But, scheduling tasks
is not the easiest thing in this world, what with family
and professional obligations. Ι'm changing the decor inside
both homes!
And the worst thing is all the gardening jobs that must be done
 now!
Raking, trimming, fertilizing, seeding, cleaning up.

We tend two gardens and that makes a different story this year!
Our country garden needs an ergonomic project immediately
so that it has an informal layout which will be easy to maintain.
Sometimes, I feel guilty about skipping good ideas
that come my way, about not being very courageous to take
decisions on time…

Regardless, I never do without color,
so flowers are in everyday devices.
Yellow tulips were sent by my mother,
anemones, muscari and carnation can be easily bought now
as they cost very little. Nothing from the garden, yet!

Hope spring doesn’t confuse you as it does me!
Joining Karen for Sunlit Sunday,
Wishing you a head start on spring!
O

  1. I cannot get enough spring flowers !!! I'm sure your gardens will look fabulous....all your hard work will be rewarded. I too noticed the birds are going crazy and singing early in the morning (when it's still dark) ....they are so excited it is spring....Gail x

  2. Hello Olympia

I feel the immediacy in getting to your gardens. They refuse to wait and will get going on their own if allowed. Your bouquets are beautiful and the anemone or wind flowers (unsure of name) are some of my favourites. Have a delightful weekend

  3. Oh Olympia, love your flowers. They are so expensive this time of year in the Pacific Northwest that I have passed them up each time I've gone to the grocery store. Spring has sprung in this part of the world though with daffodils in bloom and flowering trees providing pink canopies on many of our streets. We will also be tending two gardens this year - this one and the one in Greece. It should be a most interesting time! Happy weekend to you~ and happy spring! Jackie xx

  4. It makes me very happy spring will arrive the coming days. I have to do a lot of work in the garden. I can't imagine it will be green about some months because it's a disaster now ;-).

I love the flowers in your house! Wish you a wonderful weekend! Hugs, Ingrid

  5. Such a beautiful post Olympia,
full of lovely flowers and array of color, to warm the heart.
    Spring is on the way.
Two days now, and working in the garden. We have had no rain.
Yesterday started to water the plants as they were looking droopy.
I tend to leave the bulbs a little late for planting.. but am looking forward to getting some new plants
When one has a garden.. there is always work to do.
    Happy weekend .. val x

  6. It's a lovely feeling as we finally head off into the spring which is so beautifully captured by your bowls of glorious flowers. The anemones in particular are beautiful and, as I am sure you know, are said to have sprung from Aphrodite's tears as she mourned the death of Adonis.

(fonte:aqui)

    FELIZ DIA INTERNACIONAL DAS MULHERES!
    Um doce abraço, Marie.

  10. Dearest Olympia, your flowers are stunning! I could look at your photos for hours :)

  11. Dearest Olympia,
You make me very happy with your outstanding photos! The joy of fresh flowers, how we all yearn for them after a stubborn long winter. Yesterday we had 23°C in Dublin, Georgia but we were for the day in Atlanta where it was very windy with only 5°C. What a difference 2-½ hours north can make! But today we too got cool weather again and a night temperature of 0°C is the forecast. Hope our Japanese magnolias will not get damaged as they did open up in a hurry over the last couple of days.
Our clock will go forward this Saturday night and let's hope that will invite srping!
Happy weekend to you and yours with love,
    Mariette

    Lieve groet,Ger

  20. Dear Olympia,

All your colours cheer me up as I am a colour person myself.
Flowers rules, you can never have enough of them. You are so Lucky to live in Greece, so soon your garden will be full again.
I am going to plant some today, Weather forecast gives us 18°C today!

I absolutely adore your bird cushion in picture 4,
and truly love the bouquets in pictures 8-10. What is the flowery fabric in the back-ground? Is it a sofa? So gorgeous pattern!

    Have a nice sunday!

  26. I love the wonderful colours of all your flowers and flowerarrangements, these are the things which make us happy! Spring is the most busy time in the garden, I actually almost don't know where to start so many things to do in a relatively short time. I actually started pruning roses last week.
Wish you a happy new week!

  28. Olympia, what pretty flowers you will have in your garden this spring. I just planted those same red flowers, but in PINK. I love carnations too, reminds me of when my husband would bring me some when we were dating. You have a lot going on right now with decorating both of your homes. That is, indeed, time consuming, but I can't wait to see your ideas. Your purple flowers are beautiful.

    Have a wonderful week.

  34. Spring does sneak up on us....but we are just one person and can't do it all.....some things have to be left to the imagination! Lovely flowers in their beautiful containers bring springtime indoors - so beautiful. I love the saying, 'Keep calm and carry on'. I keep telling myself that...over and over and over when I look at all that needs to be done this time of year. Sending you hugs xo Karen
