In the backyard

Outdoor living is part of our lives and now is the time
to be really excited about this. In the country yard, everything
we planted last year is coming up now, only the wisteria is still
underway, I didn’t know that it remains in a juvenile state for
an extended period. It gave us a beautiful panicle of violet
flower though! We have to be patient, less hasty,
this is my weak point!

Lilacs, daisies and a warm sunshine complete the scene and clear
the head from pressing, bulky thoughts. A long path under the
iron pergola is being planned, there is huge potential in this backyard
which is taking shape now and sometimes I wonder if it is worth
as the cost can unwittingly increase. On the other hand,
it’s just a vacation home…

The citrus trees are at their best, blooms and
edible fruit coexist, offering a cheering sight, spreading
their exquisite scent around, isn’t that a joy?

I would like to send a big
t h a n k  y o u
to my Dutch blogfriend Ger from Hoorndesovervloeds
who gave such joy to my daughter with her generous gifts.
Not only did she dedicate a whole blogpost when receiving my
giveaway but she has also been very kind by sending a surprising
parcel to my girl. So sweet from you Ger, I’m really grateful
and happy to get to known you better. How amazing it is to
share love with people we don’t know, we have never met.

You could also take a look at my board
“In the backyard” on Pinterest!

Hope you are enjoying May challenges,
loving and being loved.

  2. Hello Olympia
Your garden dazzles with colour and how beautiful your images are. I planted a wistaria at our farmhouse in Canada and in all the years we lived there I never got one bloom, incredible branches and leaves. Upon reflection and research I discovered it was unsuitable for our zone.
Hope you have a beautiful weekend. It is a long weekend here in Ireland

  7. Such a colourful riot of colour in your late spring garden Olympia - I especially like the pink snapdragons in their terracotta pot.
It was very sweet of Ger to remember your daughter and give her so much pleasure.

  8. Olympia, the colours in your sunny country look much more vibrant than in our chilly country. You have a wonderful garden with lovely flowers and of course I love that orange and lemon tree.

  9. Olympia, which have you a beautiful backyard!
We clearly see that you have a different climate. Where we carefully see the first growth and bloom, is everything in your ville bloom.
What is it a joy to see!
It shows that you fully enjoy your flowers and garden!
And so we may also enjoy again. Then a balcony anyway very limited.
I wish you a beautiful month of May!

    Love, Gerry

I am very suprised by so many flowers and fruits in your backyard...it all looks wonderful. I love spring and I also like it to live outside too, but it's raining now and I am not sure the coming days will be much better.

  15. Dearest Olympia,

your garden is an amazing place! Full of flowers and pretty colors - I think I'm dreaming!
Being patient is my weak point, too - but here in Austria we have to be more patient than in warmer countries.
Here are just the first trees and bushes in bloom - but I love and enjoy it so much!
Springtime is my favourite time of the year! :o)

Sending lots of hugs to you, my dear!
Best May-wishes to you and your family!

  17. Dear Olympia,
Your back yard is gorgeous. I always love coming over here and seeing all the color that surrounds your home. I read recently that the wisteria is a poisonous plant. I was so surprised, as it is such a lovely one. Just wanted to mention it though so you can look into it. I've always wanted a lemon tree. How delightful that you have one, and an orange tree as well. Your flowers are blooming beautifully, and I love that aqua basket filled with flowers. I wish I could take a stroll in your garden. All the pots, and the chair with the pillow, and the lush green plants.......it is all so charming. And to think that it's just your vacation home. You have made this back yard space an enchanting place to call your home.

    love, ~Sheri

  19. My goodness Olympia! Your photos are exquisite. Each one is magazine worthy, but the one with the golden yellow chair speaks to me somehow. The colors you are blessed to live with daily seem to be unique to the Mediterranean. Had I not known where these pictures originated, I would surely have guessed accurately.

  20. Oh, Olympia, your garden is so beautiful! I love the look of your fruits especially. I wish it were warm enough to grow citrus fruit where I live. You really do make good use of your garden for outdoor living. I enjoyed seeing your furniture and cushions too. The needlepoint cushion with flowers is so pretty. I hope you are well and that you have a good week.

  29. Lieve Olympia,

    Ger
